The Braille Printer, model BPW-32, is a desktop braille printer designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This printer can emboss six- or eight-dot braille on a single side, or on both sides simultaneously using either the interpoint or interline method. The noise level has been reduced by using an embossing method that pushes the braille embossing pins into the paper instead of striking the paper. This embossng method also allows an entire line of braille to be printed at the same time. The printer embosses 32 cells per line. Maximum lines per page are 22 lines of six-dot braille on 8 x 10 inch paper using the interpoint method, or 18 lines using the interline method. For 10 x 11 inch paper, the maximums are 24 lines of six-dot interpoint braille and 19 lines of six-dot interline braille. The printer uses continuous tractor-feed paper with double-sided holes. The printing speed is approximately 64 characters per second, or 35 seconds per sheet. The printer has a serial interface for connecting to a personal computer. The sound level is 40 decibels (dB), but may vary depending on ambient conditions. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 325 x 490 x 430 millimeters. The dot spacing is 2.1 millimeters and cell spacing is 3.1 millimeters. WEIGHT: 32 kilograms.
