Wounded Warrior run wraps up

Chemainus Valley Courier - 3/4/2020

The eight-day Wounded Warrior Run BC trek from the North Island to Victoria came through Chemainus Saturday afternoon.

Participants were greeted at the Chemainus Legion Hall during a brief stopover on their way to the finish line.

Great teamwork was shown from start to finish by the eight runners and support staff and every single individual who supported the cause along the way.

More than 600 kilometres was covered and more than $155,000 raised for life-saving post-traumatic stress disorder programs. The run provides public awareness and financial support for Wounded Warriors Canada.

Day 1 covered from Port Hardy to Woss; Day 2 from Woss to Sayward; Day 3 from Sayward to Campbell River; Day 4 from Campbell River to Comox; Day 5 from Comox to Port Alberni; Day 6 from Parksville to Nanaimo; Day 7 from Nanaimo to Shawnigan Lake; and Day 8 from Mill Bay to Victoria.

The run ended at Market Square in downtown Victoria, but the fundraising will continue until the end of March. Details on all the programs offered by Wounded Warriors Canada can be found at www.WoundedWarriorRunBC.ca.
